These answers describe the first version of Mdify: a local Chrome extension for preparing webpage context before you take it to an AI.
Does Mdify use an AI model?
No. Mdify converts webpage content into Markdown and assembles a prompt locally. It does not send the page to an AI API or make a model call.
Does Mdify send my webpage content anywhere?
No. Mdify does not upload page content, URLs, prompts, screenshots, or analytics. Conversion and prompt-building happen inside Chrome on your device.
What can I convert?
Choose Article for reading-focused pages, Page for a whole webpage, or Selection for the content you highlighted. The available result depends on how the page is structured.
What does Mdify preserve in Markdown?
Mdify aims to preserve the source URL, title, links, images, code blocks, and tables. Webpages vary, so some complex or dynamically rendered content may not convert perfectly.
Which pages are unsupported in version one?
PDFs, Google Docs, Notion, and Chrome internal pages are intentionally unsupported in version one.
Does Mdify modify the webpage?
No. Article extraction works from a cloned document, and the extension does not rewrite or inject visible UI into the page you are converting.
Can Mdify open an AI tool and paste the prompt for me?
No. It presents the generated prompt in a read-only field and copies it only after your action. You choose the destination and paste it yourself.
Why does Mdify need access to the active tab?
The active-tab permission lets Mdify read the page you explicitly chose to convert. It does not grant always-on access to every site you visit.
